Week 23 , Christmas Transfers
Dec 20, 2015
 Dear Family and Friends.
The Miracle of the transfer!!. We stated out at 10:00 on Monday morning at the Mission Home. Garth was driving the Van which holds 12 passengers and Bro Westbrook the Truck and trailer that holds the e every ones luggage. The Mission President car holds 7. We were on our way to Atlanta Airport with 11 Elders and 1 sister being releases for Christmas. It was a sober and jolly time. Sorrow with parting and Joy with reunion of loved ones at home. But, when you time comes you leave!!
We had 9 elders in the van and Bro Westbrook had 2 Elders in the truck and the President  6 in his car.
The day was dark with rain clouds, it had rain at night looked like it would rain again soon.  We had not gone 30 miles when we saw the president car ahead of us pull off the freeway, so we pulled off right behind him. We get a text from President Cottle that Bro Westbrook driving the truck and trailer, had a blow out the trailer, just a back mile. Then, we got a picture from the Westbrooks of the flat tire on the trailer  texted to us.
The big decision what to do. Go back and help? So we waited. I passed the pictures on the phone, back through the Elders. Then I said Elders we have a problem, flat tire on the trailer. We need to ask God for help. So  one of the Elder prayed thanking God for all he has done for us,  and that we need his help, right NOW ,to fix the tire and make it to the Airport in time to catch the plane. It was such a great moment, all those worthy Priesthood leaders,   humbly asking God for help!
We waited; they found the spare tire without having to   take the entire luggage out (Miracle1). They could not find a Jack to lift up the trailer so they used the one in the back of the truck (Miracle2). Then they had to move to another spot that gave them more room to work, and yes somebody had left a Curtain in the back of the trailer, so they laid it on the ground to work so there suits would not get dirty (Miracle 3), after about 45 minutes the Elders and Westbrooks were on the road again. No sooner that they started driving, than a down pour of rain hit like a hurricane they were all back in the Truck and did not get wet (Miracle 4).
Time was ticking away, we get to the Airport and the ticket counter is having trouble with checking in. Time is ticking away, no time to eat - just on to security. The security line was long and we had 30 minute to board. Yes, they made it  to the top of the security line in 30min. 1 plane boarded in 3 minutes, and 2 planes in 10 minute. But God answered the prayer of the Dear Elder that they would make the plane, and they did (Miracle 5).
While we waited in the Atlanta Airport a good 1.5 hours for the New missionaries plane arrived,( it was delayed because of snow in Salt Lake City), at least 45 minutes. We were sitting by two ladies, one lady was crying, so we asked her if we could help. Garths slid over so we could hear her talk between sobs. He husband had left her and never wanted to see her again after 20 years of marriage and 4 kids.
She had missed her plane, and life was not worth living.  On the other side of us was another lady waiting for her plane and when  she saw us talking to the distressed lady, she jumped right up and say I have a prayer book and , I will read you a pray of comfort. So she started reading the prayer.
Yes it was quite the scene. Finally lady #1 stopped crying, and we told her that Jesus really did love her; she said ,that she had been praying but Jesus must be deaf, and not hearing her prayers. What would you have done?
We told her that everyone has choices, and her husband was not making good choices now.
That did not mean that Jesus had not blessed her or that he had not heard her prayers. Then lady #2, said that she was a Chaplin working at a hospital in New York. We talked about Heavenly Father  and Garth told her that there are 8 billion people in the world. Why are you letting one person make your feel bad? Garth asked the lady if she would like to know more about Jesus Christ and theat we were Mormons, and she said yes and  she gave him her name, she lived in Chicago.
Meanwhile, the other “Chaplin” lady #2 started to talk to me. She told me she had heard of Mormons but, what kind of religion are we if you don’t believe in Christ? I told her she had wrong information, the name of our Church, is the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder-Day Saints.
I said,  our  church is based on the teaching of Christ. She was surprised; she kept asking me just what difference between your church and others is. We believe that the Gospel has been restored to the earth and through the Prophet Joseph Smith.
And that God commanded Joseph Smith to translate ancient writings, that is how  we got the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ and his teaching. I asked her if she would like to know more and she said yes, I introduced her to President and sister Cottle , and the 2 AP  that were sitting with us.
I gave her a pass along card with my name and number. That was all the time we had to talk. It was time to collect the new missionaries.
The week has come and gone and we were able to testify of Jesus Christ twice that day.
The greatest news is this very Day. December 20, 2015- JeriAnn and Matt were able to get there new baby son  ,Logan out of the nicu  at the U of U. Hospital , 5 weeks  and 2 days after he was born. He is 38 week old and weighs 6 lbs.
He has had so many Miracles in his short little life. One, that he was born alive. That he has been growing and, and this week the doctors thought he had something wrong with his intestines. On Monday and again on Thursday , tests for  blocked bowel, and Hirschspring   syndrome were done, if he had either problem  he would have to have surgery. But late Friday night the doctor called Jeri and Matt and said he did not have either problem. The next thing they know      he could be released from the hospital, and tonight it was. He is  home with the family at the Ronald McDonald hous tonight .  Then off to   Conroe, Texas tomorrow. .
My, how life changes in a second! God does not want us to get bored. He does have a sense  great of humor.
Thanks for all the prayer and kindness, for JeriAnn and Matt and Norah and Logan.
Merry Christmas, this week. We just came from a great Christmas program at our Church. It is time for Christmas let the celebration and the fun begin. We love you all.” May God bless you every one,”
