Visit to Cumorah in Douglas Ga


Our last zone conference  on February 26,2016, We were invited to spent the night at the Lake house of Timothy Fussell, 2nd counselor in the Mission Presidency. The whole office staff went down on Thursday the night be for so Pres Fussell could show us the church historical sites in  Douglas Ga.  We went to meet every one at Pres Fussell dentist office.Pres
Cottle and wife, and finlinsons headed out to the site of Cumorah. the first LDS church building in Douglas build in 1907.  Danny  and Tereas Soloman took us.they have moved the old church from it orginal  site. and the Cemetery remains. there
We are going in side the church . They wuse the old build until 1960. and these folks told us about remember the old building..

The Westbrook and the Landreau can later,  It took them longer to drive from Macon it is about a 2.5 hour drive. Douglas it about 50 miles from the Florida border.
Garth is taking the picture, In the back ground is the stage where they held classes. It building is in pretty good shape concerting  it is  over 100 years old.

This is the building as we drove up to it. there is a  little lake in the back ground that they used to baptize the members. It was such a beautiful day.

We worked out way over to the cementary , which is about 2 miles. It is well taken care of and generation of family member are buried  here.

This was our guide Danny and Tereas Solman this is there grave, and they all ready have there names on it. Tereas is the sister of President Fussell.

This is Tereas and Timothy Fussell- he invited us to  all stay at his lake house. they are stand in the Cumorah Cementary

I thought that this was an interesting marker.

many of the marker had little figure on them , and a guarding Angel

Looks like the wind played a little havoc on this  tomb stone.

This was the back side  of the church, they moved it and placed in on legs to keep the highwater out.

this is Venice Finlinson, stand out in the cold, but having a great time.This is the fromt of the building and the steps were where the main door was. there was not running water in here so every one used a back  house.
