Cotton and Peanut harvest

This  is the first Dairy barn that  we have seen, in is in the Mennonite area of Montezuma, Ga
There is the Silage that is stored in white bags   for the  milk cows. This
This is the cotton rolls, the roll it like hay in these big bails-  and it is tied with the yellow plastic. They  are harvesting  Cotton all over middle Georgia . It is the end of October and the crops are getting harvested before winter.

This is what cotton looks like in the fields the stem of the plant is dead now and the cotton hangs on every branch.

This truck in loaded with  newly combined cotton and is dumped in the big wagon to be compress and made in to loafs of cotton  then covered with a trap. The tractor is dumping the cotton in now.

Sister  Landreau has brought us some cotton  plant  right out  of the fields. she is showing us how she used to pick it when she was a little girl  so the sharp brown leaves out not cut or prickle your fingers.

This is what a boiled peanut looks like w hen you crack it open to eat it after it had been boiled, in salt water for several hours. The Georgia people love these. The have boiled peanut in can at the grocery store. and now that they are harvesting  them you can find them every where. the people like them warmed up, you crack the shells and dig out the peanut. it kinda taste like a pinenut. It is an aquired taste. they are not my favorite thing.
This is what a batch of boiled peanuts looks like
