Big Georgia Homes

I was checking our to the grocery store and the checker had this awesome braid in her hair and she let me take a picture of it.  This is the front.  and the lower picture is the side. The said that a 20 year old African girl braids her hair and it stays in for a month.

Homes in Moultrie Georgia and little towns around it. I can get over that is the middle of these little town you find these awesome homes.

the worst thing about the pictures is that I have to take the pictures out the car windows and I miss the best part of the House  . Truly the South has big beautiful old homes. It is amazing that they could build such homes. Where  did the get  the  money and who lived in them, what an adventure it would be to find the original owner and her there story.

Miracle in Moultrie with Missionaries

On Wednesday  October 21,2015 a  two of our missionaries were in a MVA, the car was T-Boned in a intersection It sent both to the hospital. The miracle of there story.
Elder Gregory told me that  this is what happened, As Elder Monson pulled forward into the intersection, a man in the car ahead motioned him to drive forward. As  he did so Elder Gregory said that he hear Elder Monson scream, Then he looked to the side and he saw the car coming straight for them. He pulled him self in a ball and covered his head with his arms.
after the impact he said, he saw orange and them the air bags deployed. He looked over at Elder Monson and thought he was dead but he started moving. He was alive. Then there was some man trying to get into  the car to help. he managed to get the driver door opened. he checked them our  and helped them find there cell phones.  Then he called 911 and told the operator  where the accident had been. Then he said to  the Elders" Don't worry your going to be all right" The police arrived and they started looking for the man. he was not where to be seen. But he had left the cell phone on the top of the car where the missionaries would be sure to find it. Elder Gregory  said that is was one of the 3 Nephites Or and Angel sent  from God to look over them.
It took us about 3 hours to get to the hospital. The president sent us ahead he was coming tomorrow. Elder Monson had a dislocated left shoulder- and Elder Gregory  had contusions from his left side of his neck to his ribs to his left arm to his shoulder, and his thumb and to his left knee which was swollen  and very painful to move.
we checked them out of the hospital. took them to Walmart to get medications. they had to get out and walk in. Elder Gregory was on exchanged and all his clothes were in the crashed car. so we bought him a tooth brush and comb- we went and got dinner at Wendy and then we took them to there apartment - which we drove around for 20 minutes because we could they could not remember where it was. They share the apartment with 2 other missionaries and they got home.  then we went and found a hotel= he had not planed on staying so we had nothing. But tomorrow we were going to fine  the car. and get pictures of the accident and the personal item out of the car. President Cottle was going to be there to see them. We left on Thursdays and came home. what an adventure.
I am so thankful that God is in his work and looks out for his missionaries.

Cotton and Peanut harvest

This  is the first Dairy barn that  we have seen, in is in the Mennonite area of Montezuma, Ga
There is the Silage that is stored in white bags   for the  milk cows. This
This is the cotton rolls, the roll it like hay in these big bails-  and it is tied with the yellow plastic. They  are harvesting  Cotton all over middle Georgia . It is the end of October and the crops are getting harvested before winter.

This is what cotton looks like in the fields the stem of the plant is dead now and the cotton hangs on every branch.

This truck in loaded with  newly combined cotton and is dumped in the big wagon to be compress and made in to loafs of cotton  then covered with a trap. The tractor is dumping the cotton in now.

Sister  Landreau has brought us some cotton  plant  right out  of the fields. she is showing us how she used to pick it when she was a little girl  so the sharp brown leaves out not cut or prickle your fingers.

This is what a boiled peanut looks like w hen you crack it open to eat it after it had been boiled, in salt water for several hours. The Georgia people love these. The have boiled peanut in can at the grocery store. and now that they are harvesting  them you can find them every where. the people like them warmed up, you crack the shells and dig out the peanut. it kinda taste like a pinenut. It is an aquired taste. they are not my favorite thing.
This is what a batch of boiled peanuts looks like
